Built the Way This Coast Has Always Built
Aashirwad Beach Villa stands a short walk from Malpe beach, on a quiet lane shaded by coconut and areca palm. The house was raised the traditional way: a steep, sloped roof laid in terracotta Mangalore tile to throw off the monsoon rain, deep tiled verandahs to soften the afternoon sun, and a wrought-iron gate at the entrance — the same gate our family has walked through for years.
The name Aashirwad means blessing. It was chosen because that's what this house has always felt like to us — and what we hope it feels like to you: a place you're welcomed into, not simply checked into.
Udupi Deserved Better Than a Hotel Room
Udupi and Malpe draw pilgrims for the Krishna Matha, travellers bound for St. Mary's Island, and families chasing a quiet beach holiday — yet most stays nearby are either temple lodges or standard hotel rooms. We saw the gap: a private villa stay, run by a family who actually lives on this coast, who can tell you where the fish fry is best and when the next Kambala race is.
So a few of our rooms were reimagined for guests: air-conditioned, freshly furnished, each still opening onto the same coconut-palm courtyard the family has always known.
"Treat the Guest as Devare"
In Tulu, there's a phrase — the guest is devare, a form of the divine. That's not a saying we put on a welcome mat; it's how hospitality has always worked on this coast. It means we'll tell you honestly which beach is quiet at 6am, which fish fry is worth the short drive, and when to simply stay in and listen to the palms.
We keep the villa small on purpose. Fewer rooms means we know your name, your dietary preference, and your flight time — and can actually do something useful with that.
